Outreach In Colombia

The people of Colombia truly carry the heart of God through family, servant hearted leadership, and a colorful passion and boldness in the truth. Seeing Jesus through the lens of those in South America was such a joyful experience. Being half Colombian especially marked me during this trip because I really felt the longing and desire of the Lord over His people. It was as if I was stepping into a rich inheritance of the latino culture that I had previously taken for granted.

Before this trip, my co-leader and I had prayed for words of the Lord over our time on outreach. Firstly, we felt Him say that there would be restoration and healing in families. We then heard Him say that young men and women would step into their original design in Christ. And what's really incredible is that the Lord fulfills His promises and we actually saw this come to pass while we were there.

We had traveled a few hours down the amazon river and set up camp with an indigenous community called San Miguel. There, we first handedly saw how the Lord brought unity and healing in families while doing home to home visits. Sickness was gone, deaf ears heard, mute mouths spoke, lame legs walked, and hardened hearts were melted. We even invited the families to come around each individual and participate in prayer together. Many tears were shed and gratitude was abundant.

As we made our way up the coast, we visited several middle schools and high schools were we went class to class and shared our testimonies along with the simple gospel. During this time, we saw the Lord speak identity over the youth of Colombia. Young men and women stepped out in boldness surrendering their lives to the Lord and encountering Him through times of worship and prayer.

This season, sweet yet difficult, taught me how to lay my life down for the sake of others and love unconditionally even when it felt like I had nothing left. I also learned that I don't have to do things alone. Having a supportive co-leader who was also a close friend allowed me to trust in the Lord and release control over impossible situations. Lastly, I grew a heart for a nation that felt like home away from home.

This short summary doesn't do it justice but I can say with confidence that the Lord moved and is continually pouring out his love over his Colombian bride.
